Overview

Detective Chief Inspector John Bowmaker and his team are investigating the apparent increase in high quality drugs being distributed around his patch which has resulted in a couple of deaths due to overdose of the new product. DCI Bowmaker is convinced that the people behind the supply of the drugs is his long time nemesis, the McGinley family, well known in the area but, as yet, unconvicted of any wrongdoing. The case takes an unexpected but devastating turn when a body is discovered on a local golf course and the victim turns out to be an undercover police officer from an English force. When the body of a local drug dealer turns up in a flat rented by the murdered officer and Bowmaker and his team are pushed to their limits. The investigation is further confused when the evidence throws up a long held secret which threatens to move the case in a completely different direction.
