OverviewSince 1992, this train has been on display to the delight of more than 1250 children and their parents. Our goal is to show the train at various venues to continue to celebrate the holidays. From The Editor of Woodworkers Magazine: Some people go into their shops for a day or two and build a toy train. Then there are those who stay a little longer. Paul Kisak Stayed a lot longer. This imaginative and industrious woodworker ended up spending over 240 hours on his monumental train over an 18 month period. Paul actually began collecting the various wood species and artifacts that make up his train 30 years ago during his extensive travels in the US and abroad. In all, Paul says that over 720 types of wood were used from all 50 US states and 5 different continents. There's wood from the White House and the estates of the first four presidents as well as wood and artifacts from major US national monuments and parks. The train set consists of 38 individual cars and when joined together runs on for over 70 feet. My wife spent her career teaching disabled children, especially the hearing impaired. Along the way she developed a collection of wooden trains to entertain the children. Over the years I collected various woods from my travels and built her the following train as a Christmas gift. The Train was featured in the magazine Today's Woodworker, March/April 1991, Vol. 3, No. 2 (Issue 14) and was subsequently considered for The Guiness Book of World Records for most number of woods in a single woodworking project. The train won 1st prize and was chosen to initiate the creation of a new column in the magazine entitled 'Best of the Readers Gallery' from the magazine Today's Woodworker for the year 1991. The train has been displayed in numerous papers and exhibitions. This book is a visual history of the train in scrap book format.
