If they broke the rules, they would pay the penalty and that meant their lives would be taken by shot or by sword. In 1650 Oliver Cromwell's war with Scotland reached its climax. The battles of Dunbar (September 1650) and of Worcester (September 1651) resulted in victory for Cromwell and defeat for the Royalists and Covenanters. Thousands of prisoners were taken at both battles their story is one of hardship, disease, pain and humiliation. Jamie Dower was one of those prisoners, his story is of determination and survival until he reaches a place where war is a thing of the past.
