A self-taught polymath, in addition to being a visual artist, Brooker was a Governor General’s Award–winning novelist, as well as a poet, screenwriter, playwright, essayist, copywriter, graphic designer, and advertising executive. Gregory Betts is a Canadian poet, editor, and professor at Brock University with a speciality in Canadian and avant-garde literature. The author of seven books of poetry and nine books of experimental writing, he also edited and contributed the introduction for The Wrong World: Bertram Brooker’s Stories and Essays (2009).
