Overview

The Survival Agenda of the Greatest Generation is an important frame of reference for a generation that must face the environmental and thermonuclear threats of the twenty-first century. The heroic leaders who saved capitalism and democracy in the Great Depression, and helped win World War II, also left us an agenda for survival in the twenty-first century; but it has washed away in the shallow tides of the information age. President Kennedy's brave survival perspective is centrally featured amidst the bold proposals of a wide pantheon of scientists and statesmen from the Greatest Generation.
