As the town's residents move through their daily lives, finding love, friendship, and themselves, the past starts to catch up with them...and spill its secrets. Sins thought long-forgotten return with vengeance, threatening the happiness of those who have fought for it so hard. When several children go missing, it sets off a series of events that expose hard truths and painful lies. Can the town survive the truth, or will Santa Lucia crumble under the weight of devastation left in its wake?

Reviews

Michelle Damiani's latest installment in the Santa Lucia series brings us the further adventures of the people we came to know and love in The Silent Madonna. Her characters are well-rounded and real, and you begin to care about what happens to them and what more they bring to the story. Damiani beautifully captures the rhythm and life of a small Italian town, and fills the story with details about food, culture, wine, and the landscape. It makes me homesick for my own small town in Le Marche! What I enjoy most about Damiani's book is that the people we meet in the story meet with many challenges and decisions to be made that are totally realistic and familiar. The Stillness of the Swallows is a great read, and once you start it, you won't be able to put it down. Oh, I love the Santa Lucia series. And this third book, Stillness of Swallows, is no disappointment. Back in the beautiful village I slipped right into the narrative as though I'd never left. All my old friends, acquaintances, and yes, villains were waiting for me. The sense of foreboding grows slowly, slowly. By the excruciating climactic scenes I was on the edge of my seat. You won't want to miss reading this next installment. A real page turner. Michelle has done it again, transporting us to the village of Santa Lucia where everyone knows and cares for everyone. We had a little less Chiara this time, and a lot more excitement. I did not anticipate the plot twists. Thanks for some interesting surprises, Michelle. It is a delightful book filled with characters I enjoy spending time with.

Author Information

"Michelle Damiani is a freelance writer, clinical psychologist, and food lover currently living in Charlottesville, VA. Her heart, however, is in Spello, Italy, where she and her family spent a year growing accustomed to being fish out of water, grappling with the hardships of parenting on foreign soil, and ultimately cleaving into the soul of Italian village life. Before that year abroad, Michelle wrote short fiction--one of her stories was recently awarded first place in the Hook Short Fiction contest, juried by author John Grisham. While in Italy, she used the time that her children were in Italian public schools to write a blog about their experiences. The blog, Il Bel Centro, was awarded the bronze award for best Italian blog by Expatsblog. Once back in Charlottesville, she transformed the blog into a book, Il Bel Centro: a Year in the Beautiful Center, now available in print and e-book. Missing her village, she began writing a 4 part novel series set in italy. Three of the books, ""Santa Lucia"", ""The Silent Madonna"", and ""The Stillness of Swallows"" have been published. In addition, Michelle accumulated the collective wisdom of traveling families into a comprehensive guide called, ""The Road Taken: How to Dream, Plan, and Live Your Family Adventure Abroad."" When not planning her upcoming trip around the world, you can find her at www.michelledamiani.com."
