Reviews

Ian Fleming keeps you riveted. His narrative pulls with the smooth power of Bond's Thunderbird. -- Sunday Telegraph (London) The Spy Who Loved Me stands alone as an enigma in the Bond series. It is a truly strange, experimental book for Ian Fleming, because the story is told in first person from the point of view of the heroine. The objective view of Bond here is very different and revealing. -- Raymond Benson, author of High Time to Kill Fleming has set his stamp on the story of action and intrigue...his proper place in literature is with those demi-giants of an earlier day: Jules Verne, Rider Haggard, Conan Doyle. -- Kingsley Amis

Author Information

Ian Fleming (1908-1964) was born in London and educated at Eton and Sandhurst. During World War II, he served in British Naval Intelligence, playing a key role in shaping the prototype CIA. His wide-ranging, fast-paced life would provide the backdrop for his beloved spy novels featuring the perennially charming James Bond. Rosamund Pike was born in London to a classical violinist mother and opera singer father. She traveled throughout Europe during her early childhood and now speaks fluent German and French. As an actress she has appeared in a number of films and television series, including Wives and Daughters, An Education, Jack Reacher, and the Bond film Die Another Day.
