Table of ContentsReviewsKate and Monica write: This book delves into the life of one lovable but exhausting character Sutter Keely; who doesn't quite know what he wants to do with his future and the only way he feels he can deal with it is to drink a hell of a lot and live in the moment, The Spectacular Now. Sutter certainly has no problem making friends or talking to girls, he genuinely tries to be a good guy however he always seems to get himself into trouble. It's this trouble that finds him on a complete stranger's lawn being woken up by Aimee Finicky; a shy and socially awkward girl that Sutter fails to recognise from school. Although thrown together by circumstance the two form an unlikely friendship that later turns into romance despite Sutter's resistance. Much to Sutter's surprise the relationship forces him to confront aspects of his life that he would normally hide from including the disconnection from his family and his tendency to laugh off his pain. As we follow Sutter through his internal struggle we find ourselves questioning how far should you go to help someone? What if your idea of help is actually the complete opposite? What do you do if your presence in someone's life may actually be ruining their chance at a better future? Could you live with the guilt? The Spectacular Now is soon to be released in cinemas around Australia. Why not get in and read the book first!
