Overview

British Intelligence 1948 Who or what is Redfern? Pillow talk, a chance eavesdropping at a long forgotten cocktail party, a rendezvous in war-ravaged Berlin or something altogether more sinister? Redfern is what takes Thomas, the simple man, from a quiet civil service retirement in an English village to a military airbase in Gibraltar and dangerous liaisons along the Spanish coast. Redfern is what lures British army Captain Laurie Merrins from a routine undercover investigation into smuggling in North Africa to a perilous plot that may reach into the heart of the Establishment itself. Meanwhile, back in London, just who is running the investigation from Whitehall? Behind the drama, the plotting and the intrigue, it takes a calm, unflappable and Simple Man to unravel the riddle of Redfern. A classic well-paced British yarn evoking an era that has all but disappeared.

Author Information

R.I. Breslauer is the real name of an author who has lived over seventy years under a very different surname, selected for him in the 1940s. Life and work has taken him to five continents during periods of international and political change and his experiences in Europe and north Africa in the years following the Second World War provided inspiration for tales of his real life travels, published under his assumed name and have coloured the pages of this, his first work of fiction.
