Overview

In the shadowed corridors of H.P. Lovecraft's The Shunned House, an aura of sinister foreboding engulfs every page. This eerie novelette, crafted in 1924 and initially buried in the archives of Weird Tales, now emerges with a fresh, haunting visage through Mike Dubisch's evocative illustrations. Journey into the heart of Providence's darkened history, where an unassuming colonial house conceals horrors that defy comprehension. This tale follows the narrator and his uncle, Dr. Elihu Whipple, as they delve into the house's gruesome past, uncovering a series of mysterious deaths and inexplicable phenomena linked to the house. The deeper they dig, the more they realize that the malignancy within the house is far from ordinary, hinting at an ancient, otherworldly evil that has plagued the residence for generations.

Author Information

H.P. Lovecraft, born in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1890, was an influential yet largely unrecognized writer during his lifetime, gaining posthumous acclaim for his impactful horror fiction, notably the Cthulhu Mythos. His works delve into themes of cosmic horror, forbidden knowledge, and human insignificance in the cosmos. Despite his significant contributions to the genre, Lovecraft's legacy is complicated by his documented xenophobic and bigoted beliefs. His mythos have permeated various media, inspiring writers, filmmakers, and artists, solidifying his position as a pivotal figure in horror and sparking critical discussions regarding his viewpoints. Mike Dubisch, graphic novelist and illustrator has been creating and publishing comics and art since the 1980's. Dubisch has carved out a unique place for himself in the world of art and comics, creating works of horror, science-fiction, surrealism, and YA adventure using all but lost traditional techniques. Born in California, USA, the artist has traveled the world and lived in five countries. Dubisch has been an instructor at the Academy Of Art University since 2012, and is married to children' s book illustrator and sculptor Carolyn Watson Dubisch with whom he has three daughters.
