It is true that special forces operatives of Britain's Special Operations Executive formed Force 136 to fight the Japanese behind enemy lines, in former British colonies Malaya and Singapore. It is true that many tactics developed by Britain during the Malayan Emergency were later used by the Americans during their war in Vietnam, particularly the successful use of helicopters to airlift troops into battle zones. And when Britain took control of South Vietnam in August / September 1945 they surprised the world by enlisting the help of defeated Japanese troops to maintain law and order.
