Overview

Challenging ethical decisions face believers every day across the world. If Christians are to make solid ethical decisions in life, what is the basis on which they are to make them? This introduction to Christian ethics begins by establishing the biblical, theological and philosophical foundations on which an ethical life can be built. With the basis of a Christian worldview and a solid ethical framework, Christians are able to make coherent moral decisions. Through the study of Scripture and by rational analysis, this book encourages readers striving to build a consistent moral life. The Righteous Will Flourish will help them think through and articulate their Christian ethical position on difficult issues. These include abortion, euthanasia, environmental concerns, sexual expression, medical technologies, war, politics, work and Christian leadership--issues that impact both individual lives and society as a whole.

Reviews

Steve West and Danielle Gignac have written a clear, logical, accessible and biblical introduction to Christian ethics that can be useful around the globe. Their biblical/theological foundation is followed by seven chapters that deal with just about any issue you'd want to explore: homosexuality, abortion, war, civil disobedience, euthanasia, capital punishment, environmentalism and other timely issues. Paul E. Engle, USA, adjunct professor and author of Exploring Worship from Seven Mountains: Delighting in God's Presence Pointing us clearly to a biblical worldview, Steve West and Danielle Gignac help readers wrestle with the complexities of the ethical issues of our day. They teach us to thoughtfully engage with these important topics while fixing our eyes on God as our source of truth and authority. While different cultures often promote varying perspectives and values, this book will serve as an invaluable resource for the global church, as it directs our gaze to the unchanging character of our eternal God. Tim Beavis, VP of International Operations, Carey International Pastoral Training, USA Someone once said that the Bible is shallow enough for a child not to drown in, yet deep enough for an elephant to swim. The Righteous Will Flourish by Steve West and Danielle Gignac is not the Bible. Yet being so full of and firmly rooted in the Word of God, whether you are a freshman, a sophomore or a final year student in the 'University of Christian ethics, ' this is a manual you don't want to do without! WeI En Yi, pastor, Shalom Church, Singapore Steve West and Danielle Gignac's book is scriptural, with good practical pastoral application. The book is very readable and of great value for the evangelical church. I have greatly enjoyed the book and believe it glorifies God and will be a blessing to many. Thomas Yiu, pastor, Hong Kong In a country like India, where religious plurality is a reality, a Christian is in anguish to distinguish Christian ethics. This book deals with exactly that dilemma. A Christian reading this book will no more be in doubt about being truly ethical no matter what country or culture one comes from. It is just liberating! Timothy Babu, pastor, Visakhapatnam, India In a time and age where so many ethical issues are on the table, there is a great need for a biblical worldview to deal with each one of them. The Righteous Will Flourish is a work highly needed in our days. It gives a solid and biblical foundation for the Christian ethics and how this must be applied to several important issues that every Christian will face in a postmodern society. The present work will surely contribute to the flourishing of the righteous who want to live pleasing their righteous God in the midst of their generation. Rub n Sanchez, pastor, Barcelona, Spain We will be using this excellent, straightforward book as a resource in our college courses on ethics. It portrays grace all throughout, but also our human responsibility as Christians. Beadex Wachimwa, Evangelical Baptist Bible College of Malawi
