OverviewThe result of a concern with the position occupied by women in picaresque and rogue narratives, this study examines the position and space occupied by women in classical picaresque literature, contrasting it with the representation of women in the rogue novel Meu tio Atahualpa by Paulo de Carvalho Neto, first published in Brazil in 1978. Using gender studies and feminist literary criticism as a theoretical framework, it seeks to reveal, through textual analysis, the construction of images referring to women, thus tracing the space that women come to occupy within this contemporary narrative and its significance for understanding the new relationships established through the structuring of gender studies.
