OverviewExcerpt from The Relation of Rate of Maturity to Egg Production Kennard also concluded from this experiment that the earlier maturing pullets attained greater body weight and laid relatively larger eggs. Such observations are suggestive even though the number of birds reported upon was not large, and they were not kept under com mercial conditions. It was decided, therefore, to undertake pullet segregation tests with large numbers of birds, in commercial flocks of Sonoma County, to determine the importance of rate of maturity as a factor in commercial flock management.
