OverviewManfred Von Richthofen, also known as the Red Baron, was a fighter pilot for the German Luftstreitkrafte during World War I. Officially credited with 80 air combat victories, he is considered the top ace of the war. He wrote this autobiography which was published as Der Rote Kampfflieger, before he was shot down and killed near Amiens on 21 April 1918.
