Table of ContentsReviews""A well-written historical adventure story set in the twilight of the Crusades with unexpected twists and turns that keep you hooked . . . an exciting and historically fascinating read."" -Andrew Kaplan, New York Times bestselling author of Blue Madagascar and the Homeland novels ""I found the Rabbi's Knight fascinating as a historical novel, thrilling in the twists and turns of the story, and delightful in the manner in which important aspects and concepts of Kabbalah are presented to a general readership."" -Ronit Meroz, PhD, Department of Jewish Philosophy and Talmud, Tel Aviv University, Winner of the 2002 Scholem Prize for Kabbalah Research by the Israel Academy of Sciences for outstanding scholarship of Kabbalah ""The Rabbi's Knight is both a saga and a journey that takes the reader from a place of seeming incongruity, scheming conflicts and treachery, to the recognition of a shared vision. The divisiveness of different religious traditions is pitted against the quest for a common good, an 'Upper Jerusalem, ' that remains out of reach, but still within sight."" -John W. Bennison, RelD, Leader, Pathways Faith Community ""A unique and intriguing story! I was especially touched by the brilliance of the Rabbi whose words should be heard in Jerusalem's halls of power; ""...every faith has its own story and myth, and all those who claim Jerusalem are not her true children. Only Jerusalem's true children love her enough to share her."" -Rizek Abusharr, Emeritus Director General of Jerusalem International YMCA ""The Rabbi's Knight is a real page-turner! Cooper demonstrates a sure grasp of a historical period that many are unaware of, the history well-integrated into the story. Values that underlie the story are important for people of all faiths. The Rabbi's Knight is a great read...Kudos for making history come alive!"" -Rabbi Charles Feinberg, Former Rabbi of Congregation Adas Israel, Washington, DC, former Co-chair, Rabbis for Human Rights, North America ""Cooper establishes himself as a gifted historian with a penchant for research that encompasses his writings into a well-rounded, believable tale of ancient Jerusalem. The wonderful breadth of the tale, the language, the time period is all captured. A compelling read. Best book of the year by far."" -Mark Sadler, Suspense Magazine Review Author InformationMICHAEL J. COOPER emigrated to Israel in 1966 and lived in Jerusalem during the last year the city was divided between Israel and Jordan. Recently retired after a forty-year career as a pediatric cardiologist on faculty at UCSF Medical Center, he returns to Israel/Palestine to volunteer his services to children who lack adequate access to care. Other than The Rabbi's Knight, Cooper is also the author of a series of sequels: Wages of Empire and Crossroads of Empire, both set at the start of WW1, and Foxes in the Vineyard, set in 1948. All of his novels are linked together by the Sinclair/St. Clair blood line, as well as by Jerusalem's Temple Mount. Cooper and his wife live in Northern California with a neurotic but lovable golden retriever and a spoiled rotten cat. Three adult children occasionally drop by.
