Overview

The Purple Menace and the Tobacco Prince is a historical fiction novel inspired by the whirlwind romance between Winston-Salem tobacco heir Z. Smith Reynolds and sultry Broadway torch singer Libby Holman. Set against a backdrop of Jazz Age opulence and Prohibition-era decadence, the cigarette millionaire pursues his obsession across the globe by airplane, yacht, and automobile, competing for the glamourous singer's affections with a free-spirited heiress. The three become entangled in a web of lust and envy, ultimately ending in tragedy, scandal, and a mystery that remains unsolved to this day. Wright Williams has it all. Wade Beauchamp is from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Over 30 of his short stories have been published in various journals and anthologies by such editors as Ryan North, Violet Blue, Lori Perkins, and Cecilia Tan. His work has twice been selected for inclusion in Susie Bright's Best American Erotica series (2005 and 2007). It Rhymes With Luck, a collection of his most popular shorts, was published in 2010. His debut novel, Scream If You Wanna Go Faster, was a 2013 Kindle Book Review Best Indie Book Awards Finalist.
