Overview

Charlotte Brookes flees her lecherous guardian, McBride, taking her younger sister with her. After a year on the road, they stumble into a Yorkshire village where the Wheelers, owners of the village shop, take them in. This new life is strange for Charlotte, but preferable to living with McBride or surviving on the roads. Harry Belmont is an important man in the village, but he's missing something in his life. His budding friendship with Charlotte gives him hope she will feel more for him one day, and hewill marry the woman he yearns for. When McBride discovers where Charlotte lives, his threats begin. Harry fights to keep Charlotte safe, but World War I erupts and Harry enlists. Left to face a world of new responsibilities, and Harry's difficult sister, Charlotte must run the gauntlet of family disputes, McBride's constant harassment, and the possibility of the man she loves being killed. Can Charlotte find the happiness that always seems under threat, and will Harry return home to her?

Author Information

Sarah Sampino graduated from the New York University Tisch School of the Arts, where she was trained specifically in voice acting and audiobook narration by the top narrators and producers in the business. Sarah also studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, which has helped her master all kinds of British dialects. The fact that her fiance is British doesn't hurt either! The two of them now record dual and duet narrations together. On the occasion that Sarah is not being actor-y, she can be found procrastinating everything by burying her face into a fantasy novel. She loves fantasies, especially with enemies-to-lovers, or a strong and badass heroine. Romance, fantasy, YA thrillers, LitRPG-you name it! Liam Price grew up in the English countryside with a deep love for literature, especially talking books and radio plays. He studied English literature and history before spending a number of years working and traveling around the world. Liam then served with the military, where in a stroke of monumental luck, he would meet his future wife (pending!). She would lure him over to the United States and tempt him into the world of audiobook narration. His favorite books include Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, anything by Nick Hornby, and everything to do with history. With his worldly experience, a knack for accents, natural dry wit, and English decadence, Liam is fully equipped to bring your audiobook to life.
