Overview

Storytelling is hugely transformative to how we view ourselves, those around us, and our place amidst it all. The Power of Storytelling: Social Impact Entertainment is a look at how entertainment and media has had a positive and negative impact throughout the last century by looking at specific films and TV shows, pioneers in the field, and those that dial it down to a science. Readers will be left with unprecedented insight into how a simple narrative can change the world.

Author Information

In 2006, Rippberger founded Aletheia Films, named after Aletheia (a philosophical concept in philosophy reflecting a disclosing of truth) with a view to make entertaining and impactful films for mass audiences. The company produces feature films, series, documentaries, commercials, music videos, and major events. It has now been renamed SIE Films. Rippberger directed and produced a feature documentary 7 Days in Syria, which follows journalist Janine di Giovanni's 2012 trip to Aleppo. It was screened at Britain's House of Lords. The film has played in over 50 cities worldwide, on television in Denmark, Sweden, and China, and via streaming service Hulu. The film was well received by critics and personally championed by United Nations Special Envoy Angelina Jolie. In 2019, Rippberger directed and produced Public Enemy Number One (film) -- a documentary about America's war on drugs from Executive Producer Ice-T. The film won Best Documentary Feature at the Seattle Film Festival, and Storyteller Award and Best Producer at Doc LA - Los Angeles Documentary Film Festival. In 2020, Robert directed the horror feature Those Who Walk Away about male victims of sexual assault. He is producing an animated feature with Daisy Ridley, Stephen Fry, and Marion Cotillard about Leonardo Da Vinci. Robert created the SIE Society in August 2020 and is on the Producer's Guild of America's Social Impact Entertainment Task Force.
