I guess I kind of relate. This deceptively short book sucked me in from the very first page. I read it start to finish in one sitting, and thoroughly enjoyed the emotional roller coaster ride through fear, hope, anger, regret, disgust, sympathy, and horror. When I finished I was energized AND exhausted. Disturbingly hilarious. Disturbing because I know hypocrites like this - hilarious because they're that ridiculous. The title aptly conveys the reverently irreverent tone of this new Indie author. Chuqq Shipman masterfully portrays the paradoxical conflict of these symbiotic forces in a manner that is neither religious nor anti-religious. If you enjoy well crafted and well written fiction, you'll enjoy The Pornographic Christian. Like watching NASCAR to see the inevitable car wrecks, following the antics of Nic Lenaghan is a guilty-pleasure. But I hate to see the collateral damage like his son and his wife. Oh, and the real hero of the story is his wife. She's a momma-bear-mother and no man's doormat, and I love how the dog chooses her over him. I truly hope in the sequel the dog bites Nic's nuts off.
