Overview

In 1706, war still rages in Europe, and the tobacco planters of the Virginia colony's tidewater struggle against shrinking markets and pirates lurking off the coast. But American seafarers have found a new source of wealth: the Indian Ocean and ships carrying fabulous treasure to the great Mogul of India. Faced with ruin, former pirate Thomas Marlowe is determined to find a way to the riches of the East. Naval enthusiast James L. Nelson is the award-winning author of many works of fiction and nonfiction. His books include George Washington's Secret Navy, which won the Naval Order's prestigious Samuel Eliot Morison Award, and Glory in the Name, which was selected as the winner of the American Library Association's W. Y. Boyd Literary Award for Excellence in Military Fiction. He has appeared on the Discovery Channel, the History Channel, and C-SPAN's Book TV. He lives in Maine with his family. James Cameron Stewart is a veteran actor whose performances include roles in theater, film, and television. He was trained at Hull University and the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. His credits include Outlander, Jericho, Flying Blind, Golden Years, Emmerdale, London's Burning, Eastenders, Coronation Street, and Holby City.
