For some time now it has been established British government policy to foster close links among scientists, government and industry. The author has assessed how successful this marriage between science and industry has been, paying close attention to: the effects of high profile initiatives, e.g. Foresight ; conflict from establishing intellectual property, particularly among research scientsts, academic institutions and private sector partners; conflict of interest among funding partners, where more than one is needed.
