OverviewSubstantive consultants in the UK need to be on the GMC specialist register. Non-consultant psychiatrists might work towards the GMC specialist register in psychiatry through various routes, of which CESR is one. This book, written by experts with first-hand experience, provides guidance to doctors planning to use this route. Specialist registration is the acknowledgement of a doctor's expertise in their field and the achievement of competences as outlined in specialist curricula. This book provides a succinct overview of what to expect from the process of applying for CESR, with practical advice on how to submit a successful application. It will appeal primarily to Speciality and Associate Specialist (SAS) Doctors with extensive experience in psychiatry, psychiatrists who have completed their training overseas and wish to practice in the UK, as well as medical managers and educators supporting their workforce towards consultant grade.
