Overview

""The past is a foreign country one where Moscow Rules apply. Rendlesham Forest. 1980. Personnel from the nearby US Air Force base investigate unusual lights in the surrounding forest. They later make extraordinary claims about what they had seen. London. 2020. Alex Grant, ex SIS and Security Service operative, is handed a routine investigation. He soon finds he has wandered into the middle of the Cold War equivalent of a long abandoned minefield. What links the two events, forty years apart? What secret that old is worth killing to keep? To find the answers, Grant dusts off the skills he had hoped he no longer needed and finds himself back in a world where the virtue of allies is worth no more than the duplicity of enemies and where there is no way to tell one from the other. ""

Author Information

""John Charles Woodman had a conventional childhood and education, gaining a degree in philosophy. He was recruited into his work by a tutor and has since been employed by several government agencies, working for a short while with the UK based arm of an American company. He still holds his blue badge. His early career was in the field where he developed a specialization in the security of civil and military nuclear sites. During this period, he had close contact with Special Branch. For a while in the mid-80s, he was invalided out of active service, concentrating instead on research and development in his specialist areas. When he was passed fit, he trained with the SAS and returned to fieldwork at a senior level, heading east and working both sides of the Wall. After a further period working in hostile locations, he was promoted to a senior desk with responsibility for an entire region of activity. Although he has now retired, he still does research and acts as a consultant in areas of expertise. He cannot and will not make personal appearances. John Charles Woodman is not his real name.""
