The New Orleans Covenant - Book II: An Afroqueer Gothic Novel

Overview

Joanna, Patricia, and Hazel have embraced their identities as Black witches, living in a haunted Southern plantation inherited from Dorothy, their ancestor. The plantation, once a place of fear and oppression, is now a sanctuary where the sisters hone their powers and help restless spirits find peace. They have formed a covenant, using their magic for healing and spiritual awareness. The sisters receive black cat familiars from their ancestors, which serve as guides and protectors. Joanna emerges as a powerful leader, focusing on growing the covenant. Hazel finds love with Sondra, another witch, while Patricia starts a family, giving birth to twins with extraordinary potential. As the sisters thrive, the locals continue to whisper about their powers and the secrets of the plantation. The sisters' lives take a turn when their familiars begin acting strangely, signaling unrest in the spirit world. They learn that this All Hallows' Eve will be unlike any other, with the veil between the living and the dead becoming penetrable. Initially, the covenant attempts to strengthen the veil to prevent chaos, but the spirits break through, flooding the plantation. These spirits are the ancestors of the slave owners, filled with greed, racism, and destructive intentions. The sisters must shift their focus to fighting these malevolent spirits, who are determined to reclaim the plantation and the town, spreading fear and discord.
