OverviewTHE MYSTERY OF ATLANTIS - Historians, poets and adventurers have searched oceans and deserts for traces of the lost city of Atlantis. The Calypso team travel to the Mediterranean Sea, cradle of civilization. Their archaeological mission is to discover and explore a 1st century BC Roman shipwreck and the works of art on board. A strange photograph puts the Calypso divers on the trail of what could be the origin of the famous lost city of Atlantis. Dominique Serafini takes his sketch pad on board the Calypso to create this series of graphic novels based on the expeditions of the first underwater explorers - the Cousteau team. Fighting for the protection of the Blue Planet and against the threats that human activities pose are the fundamental objectives. Observing a blue whale, tagging sharks, filming marine crocodiles, exploring wrecks and finding traces of sub-merged civilizations; during the last 50 years, the team on board the Calypso and Alcyone have lived a thousand fantastic adventures. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationOriginally from Paris, Dominique has a degree in Fine Arts from Ecole de Beaux-Arts de Paris. Many years later, in 1983, he actualized his childhood dream - he boarded Calypso to create a series of graphic novels with Jacques-Yves Cousteau. Over a period of 20 years, Dominique created a series of 17 books, inspired by the missions of the Cousteau team around our blue planet. Dominique continues to work defending the marine environment, with the likes of Paul Watson (Sea Shepherd), Jean-Michel Cousteau (Ocean Futures) and Patrick Deixonne (Expedition 7e Continent). Born and raised in Montreal, CANADA, Cathy graduated in 1986 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts in film and photography from Concordia University. Cathy has been publishing newspapers, magazines and books for over 35 years now. Covering what the mainstream press ignored was a passion that she pursued for many years. She started scuba diving in her late 20s, but once she put her head under the water, all she wanted to do was discover and explore this wonderful liquid world. In 1999, she arrived in Bonaire where she met her life and diving partner, Dominique. They have collaborated on all kinds of creative projects to do with our undersea world, including books, a tv series and many exhibits of their painting and photography. Through their creative works, they try to show people how magical a place the underwater world is and they hope to inspire others to love it as much as they do.
