One of the best series I have read in a long time. Her writing brought you into the family, I felt a connection to them all. Nell, Maria, Rebecca, Alice, Jane, Sarah, Clara, Mrs.Robertson, and others. You can relate to the issues that faced and most importantly how they stuck together Thru it all. Each character reminded me of someone including myself. Excellent great read! This whole series has been very good. The characters are rich and down to earth. It is really a normal family with all the ups and downs that comes with life. Start the series today you will enjoy it. Looking forward to the next book! I love how Val keeps the story going. Everything always comes together. I haven't been able to put any of the six books down until I finish them, wanting more. Nell is full of surprises and I enjoy her point of view in the stories. Looking forward to the next book! This series has gone by so fast can't believe this is number six of seven books!! I love all of Val's books as you read she brings you into the family as if you are a member.. all of her books make you feel this way!! Val has a way with her writing to have you feel the emotions of all family members. This is so hard to do. Can't wait to hear the audio of this series!! A very must-read of this series and all of her other books, you just don't know what you are missing!!!

Author Information

Born and raised in Liverpool (UK), VL McBeath (Val) initially trained as a scientist and worked in the pharmaceutical industry for many years. It was only more recently she developed a passion for writing. Her first series, The Ambition & Destiny Series, arose out of Val's interest in her family's history. After many years it developed into an epic family saga. Spanning over seventy years, it tells the story of one family's trials, tribulations and triumphs as they seek their fortune in Victorian-era, England.Once their tale was told, Val was eager to see if there were other ancestors worth writing about. That was when she stumbled across Nell. As a woman living in the late nineteenth century she was not your typical Victorian housewife, which made her the prefect person to write about. Her story is told in The Windsor Street Family Saga.In addition to her family sagas, Val also has a series of historical murder mysteries: Eliza Thomson Investigates. This is currently a series of seven standalone books set in the early 20th century. Eliza is a fictional amateur sleuth who makes the most of her position being married to the village doctor. Along with her best friend Connie and occasionally her son, Henry, Eliza likes to help the police with their murder enquiries - whether they want her to or not!Val now lives in Cheshire with her husband, Stuart. In addition to family history, her interests include rock music, Liverpool Football Club and visiting her two grown-up daughters and their pets!
