North Carolina has furnished many of these, and when there is a demand for a new commercial mineral it is one of the first States that is looked to to furnish the supply. Every year minerals new to the State are being added to the list and frequently a new mineral species is dis covered, thus constantly increasing the variety of minerals to be found within the Commonwealth.
