Reviews

Megan A. Arroll and Liz Efiong have written a very comprehensive guide to the menopause. The information given should make it easier and less confusing to make an informed decision on what action to take. -- From the Foreword by Dr John Moran, Medical Director of Holistic Medical Clinic and Specialist in Menopause and Nutritional Medicine This book is a valuable addition to the literature on Selective Mutism, since it deals with the experiences of adults who had or still have the condition. Based on Mr. Sutton's own experience of living with SM and drawn from his research into the subject, personal accounts from individuals with SM are presented in seventeen chapters, ranging from early years, through school and into adult life... Many of the contributors, being adult now, did not have their condition identified and treated as youngsters, since SM was even less well known i the past that it is today. Their stories reinforce the book's message that help and support for children with SM in early childhood avoids issues later in life. -- Victoria Roe, SMIRA Honorary Secretary SMIRA (Selective Mutism Information & Research Association) The book is written in an optimistic and realistic style with a 'what can I do' attitude. Each chapter clearly sets out its aims at the beginning. Each chapter is split up into succinct sections and each chapter ends with a succinct summary. It's very easy reading with no waffle and is not full of medical jargon. It is a well-referenced book so you can easily go away and do further research...this is a really helpful guide for women during menopause and for those wanting to make changes to their lifestyle to ensure that the next stage of their life is as healthy and fulfilling as possible. -- Julieann Roberts Menopause Health Matters The authors of the book have written an excellent, easy to read and understand guide that examines alternatives other than conventional HRT. -- Mariette Lobo
