OverviewAnzac Parade, this iconic Canberra landmark, a key part of the city's land axis designed by Walter Burley Griffin, is a poignant reminder of the shared military history of both Australia and New Zealand. Facing East, from the Australian War Memorial at the base of Mt Ainslie, to the West facing toward the old and new Commonwealth Parliament houses, the red gravel path is flanked by 13 thought evoking and powerful memorials. The memorials honour the courage, sacrifice and spirit of the ANZAC legend forged in World War I. Officially opened on 25th of April 1965, the 50th anniversary of the Gallipoli landing, Anzac Parade invites visitors to walk along its hallowed ground to encounter the memorials honouring various aspects of military history, from the Boer War to more recent conflicts. All images are taken by me, using a Nikon D3500 camera. Enjoy.
