OverviewOf all the adventures kids can have, nothing compares to the old abandoned mansion my sister and I discovered eighteen years ago. It was a terribly hot evening in the humid swamps behind our town. When distant thunder rumbled like a Civil War cannon, we should have just run for cover. It is a good thing we had flashlights. It is a good thing we did not flee in terror. From the looks of that lost mansion, how could we know anything good might happen in the times ahead of us? The next summer day found us quickly returning to the forgotten mansion on the hill. With a little luck, some sort of treasure might still be there, we hoped. But 152 years had elapsed, dimming hopes we may have had. If the treasure was anywhere to be found we would have to investigate Civil War tunnels under the mansion! We knew we would need a little luck and good fortune to come our way. We knew all we could do was try. As a lad Feist explored in the outdoors fishing, hiking, camping, gardening, and playing baseball in his spare time. At an early age Feist enjoyed writing poetry and short stories for school assignments. Feist studied elementary education at East Stroudsburg University in the Pocono Mountains, graduating in 1989. In his time as a teacher he has taught every grade from Kindergarten through 12th, with many years spent teaching third grade. Feist has released 81 books in many genres, but is currently concentrating on children's literature projects in Pine County, Minnesota. Feist says that good writing involves research. Anyone can write a tale from their thoughts, he indicates, but to back up one's stories with a great many historical truths takes a fair amount of time, and some connecting of the dots, but it is actually quite enjoyable, he reflects. And it makes for good, good reading when young people can learn a lot from their fiction choices. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
