Overview

A Wonderful True Story.A young man who retains his courage and hopes against all the odds. After a tragic accident amid his burgeoning high school football career, Jim Jimbo Wallgren sustains an paralyzing injury that forever changes his life. Jim overcomes his adversity to thrive from physical and mental anguish to facing an unknown and ominous future. Jim gives the reader context of his childhood upbringing in the 1970s, his love of sports and where his resiliency resides. From an athletic 15-year-old to fighting for his survival and grasping for hope against incredible odds, fear of the unknown, self-doubt, and adjusting to a new life would not be easy. In his own words he describes how he transformed his mindset from one of lack and victimhood to a determined, hopeful one capable of creating and choosing the inspiring, abundant life he has today. In this remarkable, authentic coming-of-age story, be inspired to follow every dream, overcome every obstacle, and get back up after every tackle.

Reviews

Outstanding personal novel Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2020 I completed this novel in one reading. Why? Not because it was short, but because it grabbed me the moment I started reading, bringing back memories of all those other novels of this genre: Rudy, Gridiron Gang, Dangerous Minds, Stand and Deliver as well as Freedom Writers and Hitting Rock Bottom. The author is truly inspirational about how he has accepted fate for his football accident and yet continues to give all that he has in helping others overcome their situations. If I was still teaching at my former military academy consisting of at-risk youth, this novel would be required reading. For any educators out there that have students who always complain about how life is not fair, have them read this novel.
