Overview

It is August of 1988. The Islamic Revolution has seemingly taken hold in Iran. The General of all the military forces of the Soviet Union, General Slanictikov, arrives in Tehran incognito, on a commercial flight demanding a meeting with the Ayatollah Khomeini. Slanictikov is irate when he is informed that, not only is the Ayatollah not available, but that no member of the Revolutionary Council is available for days. He ultimately consents to meet with Minister Gotsebe, a subordinate of General Kabbat, a member of the Council. When Slanictikov informs Gotsebe that the USSR wants to help with their Operation Maalik, it is obvious that Gotsebe has no idea what he is talking about. Slanictikov does not live long enough to report back to General Secretary Gorbachev. This begins a whirlwind series of events that threatens the peace and security of the Middle East and the rest of the world as well. The CIA is immediately aware of Slanictikov's bizarre appearance in Tehran. While the CIA is trying to decide how to respond, they suffer the shock of Slanictikov's stunning demise. George Thomas, veteran CIA Middle East agent, is dispatched to Iran to attempt to discover what the Iranians are up to. Thomas is embroiled in a deadly game of infiltration, run and hide, that involves harrowing pursuit, capture and escape. A very improbable extraction results in Thomas making his way to the epicenter of the sinister plot, 'Operation Maalik'. A most unexpected and unlikely romantic interest emerges for Thomas in the midst of the civilization threatening events that shackle him and many others in a succeed and live, or fail and die circumstance. The lives and future of hundreds of thousands of unsuspecting souls are at stake. Will they survive Operation Maalik?
