In deepest Gloucestershire a secret way of life is clinging to a fragile existence. Bob and Brian Tovey are father and son, born 1938 and 1963 respectively, who have lived their whole lives in the Gloucestershire countryside. Their knowledge of the woodlands, fields and streams close to them - and the birds and animals found there - is comparable to that of indigenous peoples in pre-industrial societies. Their way of life - taking what they need to feed themselves from the land around them - is fast dying out. They are the last English poachers.
