OverviewThis booklet is a modest IN MEMORIAM dedicated to the painter ALMA REDLINGER on the 100th anniversary of her birth. I argue that Alma's art and work are little known in Israel compared to other Jewish painters of Romanian origin. Following the path of her art, we discover a natural, dynamic, always optimistic evolution. Alma avoids Jewish subjects, the Holocaust, and the years of harmful communism, preferring a serene painting, focusing on women, flowers, still lifes, and motifs taken from the traditional Romanian landscape. As a wonderful colorist, Alma deserves wider appreciation, a presence in museums, and perhaps... retrospective exhibitions. SAGA Publishing is honored to present Alma's art to readers in the Diaspora, Israel, USA...on the occasion of Redlinger's centenary. Special thanks to Daria Simion and the collector and author of Talking to Alma Redlinger - Vasile Petrovici.
