OverviewThis work deals with an important detail of the territorial development of the southern Marchfeld in the Babenberg margraviate. The basis for this is Henry II's diploma of November 14, 1021, in which he ceded an area on the Danube to Bishop Egilbert of Freising. This so-called island of Sachsengang was already being used by Freising's followers and was probably also secured militarily. The names of the places mentioned in the documents provide references to real people from the Freising ""familia"". A separate section deals with the emergence of the second lordship, the ""camera Encinesdorf"". The place names of today's greater municipality of Groß-Enzersdorf and the neighboring municipality of Raasdorf gradually appear in the Freisinger Urbaren from 1160 onwards. Some of the places that emerged have only survived as field names, some can no longer be traced. The timing of the publication of this book is highly topical, as 2021 marks the millennium of this document. The author's aim is to present the events according to the latest findings of historical research in order to provide a scientific basis for further research.
