The Hidden War of Exodus

Overview

For Achilles, the hero of Troy, immortality was a curse. Until he found a reason to fight. The Exodus was never just about freedom from slavery. Behind the parting of the Red Sea, beyond the staff that became a serpent, beneath the blood on Egyptian doorposts, a cosmic conflict unfolded. Greek and Egyptian gods clashed with Hebrew power. Egyptian deities fought for survival. And one immortal warrior, banned from Olympus and haunted by immortality without purpose, became the hidden instrument in a divine campaign that would dismantle an empire and humble the gods themselves. Plagues become tactical weapons. Prophets become military strategists. Freedom is earned through blood, faith, and the choices of those willing to stand between earth and heaven. This is the Exodus you never knew. And the war that will redefine what it means to be a hero.

Author Information

David Baer is a Philadelphia writer and filmmaker whose work blends myth with grounded human realism, treating ancient narratives as speculative historical fiction. He previously worked as an editor for CBS Evening News, CBS Morning News, and a range of independent film and television projects, and later founded Baer Studios, a digital media and production company. His storytelling focuses on the hidden machinery behind belief systems-imagining how gods, empires, and ordinary people collide to shape the narratives cultures live by. His essays have appeared in The Startup and the satirical blog Paranoid Echo Chamber. Baer is also co-founder of CharacterFoundry.io, a worldbuilding platform for authors and game designers. The Hidden War of Exodus is the first book in The Achilles Chronicles, a multi-volume series that follows Achilles through the major turning points of human history, retelling ancient myth as grounded historical reality.
