The popular writings on the subject, with some exceptions, have been criticized as extravagant and untrustworthy. The truth regarding Utah's Dead Sea is sufficiently impressive without recourse to fabulous embellishment, even if such were in any sense justifiable. The writer has drawn freely on the valuable records of investigators, and acknowledgment of authorities has been made in place.
