Dr. David Eckstein Goldman graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, in 1973, receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in History, a focus in Religious Studies, and a double minor in Psychology and Sociology. After completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Goldman attended Washington University School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1976. From 1976 until beginning medical school in 1987, he served as secretary-treasurer and corporate legal counsel for Central Industries, Inc. Dr. Goldman also served as director for recycling operations, trucking and transportation operations, and research and development for Central Industries, Inc. during that same time.In 1987, Dr. Goldman entered medical school at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in 1991 with his Doctor of Osteopathy degree. He completed a traditional transitional rotating internship at the Kirksville Osteopathic Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri, in 1992, after which time he began his residency training in Psychiatry at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Goldman completed his residency training in 1996, and completed his Fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 1997, also at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. After completing his Residency and Fellowship training, Dr. Goldman returned to Springfield, Illinois, establishing his practice in psychiatry. He is the Medical Director for The Goldman Group, LLC, for Mark Twain Behavioral Health, and serves as a medicolegal consultant, He also serves as a professor at Southern Illinois University Medical School in Springfield, Illinois, and at ATSU/Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. Dr. Goldman was the 2001 and the 2011 recipient of the Max Gutensohn Professor of the Year Award at ATSU/Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. In 2001 Dr. Goldman was awarded the Order of Merlin Shield by the International Brotherhood of Magicians and in 2016 he was awarded the Order of Merlin Excalibur by the International Brotherhood of Magicians. In 2007, he was one of 18 psychiatrists selected from among the nation's physicians to receive the NAMI Exemplary Psychiatrist Award presented at the international meeting of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Goldman was elected to Fellowship in the American Psychiatric Association in 2015. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Legal Medicine.
