Overview

‘As delicious and classy and intoxicating as a cool glass of Sancerre. Heavenly!' Veronica Henry 'What a gem of a book!… Such an accomplished first novel’ Erica James ‘A story full of secrets, the weight of family expectations and the love that binds us together, this is a brilliantly readable debut’ Fabulous ‘A glamorous family drama… If you love books about rich, beautiful people behaving badly… then you are going to adore The Garnett Girls’ Red Love makes you do things you never thought you were capable of… Margo and Richard’s love affair was fiery, forbidden and all-consuming, but ultimately doomed. When it imploded, Margo was left broken. Margo never spoke a word about the man who abandoned his young family so easily. She’s forged a new life which she’s determined to live her own way, despite the disapproval of her daughters. Her eldest, Rachel longs to escape the responsibility of caring for Sandcove, the crumbling house where she and her sisters were left to run wild. Dreamy Imogen should be getting ready for her wedding but is feeling a dangerous connection to a beautiful stranger. And the youngest of the three, wild, passionate Sacha, is carrying a secret from their past that will shake the family to its core… The Garnett Girls is the Sunday Times bestselling debut which asks whether children can ever be free of the mistakes of their parents. Reviews

Praise for The Garnett Girls: 'A Cazalet Chronicles for the twenty-first century. I adored it' Bryony Gordon 'A delicious read - intimate, intricate, immersive - about family relationships, particularly between women, and the inherited baggage that we carry' Rachel Joyce 'Richly drawn, deeply fallible characters in enviable settings. Bad behaviour abounds but so does a clear-eyed understanding of family dynamics' Patrick Gale 'What a gem of a book! I loved the beautiful setting - I could literally smell the salty seaside air. Such an accomplished first novel' Erica James 'Pure pleasure. Indulgent, escapist and gorgeously atmospheric . . . a sweeping saga of family secrets, glamour and betrayal' Emmma Stonex 'I fell completely and utterly in love with The Garnett Girls. Beautifully written, with an idyllic setting, fascinating characters and tangled family relationships, this debut is a gorgeous and compelling read' Jill Mansell 'Brings this enchanting, maddening, wounded family to life with flair, wit and great kindness. A pleasure to read' Susie Boyt 'A deft, evocative storyteller' Sheila O'Flanagan 'A slice of pure escapism' Harriet Tyce 'Written with skill and passion . . . what a debut!' Elizabeth Buchan 'An elegant page-turner' Julie Owen Moylan 'Sublime writing, deep deep emotion and characters you won't want to let go . . . Heavenly!' Veronica Henry 'A gorgeous evocative tale of love and loss and healing' Liz Fenwick 'A beautiful, faded family home, a large messy family that's full of secrets and misunderstandings, characters that are so alive and complex and fascinating . . . A fabulous debut' Fanny Blake 'This novel has it all: wonderful contemporary characters . . . fraught family relationships, love in all its forms, and at its core, a destructive family secret. I loved every minute' Marika Cobbold

Praise for The Garnett Girls: 'The Garnett Girls hovers between Mary Wesley and Charlotte Mendelson in its conjuring of richly drawn, deeply fallible characters in enviable settings. Bad behaviour abounds but so does a clear-eyed understanding of family dynamics and intimate damage' Patrick Gale 'Pure pleasure. Indulgent, escapist and gorgeously atmospheric, The Garnett Girls is a sweeping saga of family secrets, glamour and betrayal, in the tradition of Penny Vincenzi and Louise Bagshawe but with a style and heart all its own. Wonderful' Emmma Stonex 'I fell completely and utterly in love with The Garnett Girls. Beautifully written, with an idyllic setting, fascinating characters and tangled family relationships, this debut is a gorgeous and compelling read' Jill Mansell 'The perfect holiday read and a slice of pure escapism . . . a compelling story full of warmth and shade, and characters that I'd love to party with in real life. Like the best of Rosamunde Pilcher' Harriet Tyce 'I fell head over heels in love with The Garnett Girls. Sublime writing, deep deep emotion and characters you won't want to let go . . . Heavenly!' Veronica Henry 'A gorgeous evocative tale of love and loss and healing' Liz Fenwick 'A beautiful, faded family home, a large messy family that's full of secrets and misunderstandings, characters that are so alive and complex and fascinating. I loved the writing, the sharp-eyed descriptions and scene setting, but most of all the emotional intelligence invested in all the characters. A fabulous debut' Fanny Blake 'This novel has it all: wonderful contemporary characters you come to really care about, loving but tangled, and at times fraught, family relationships, love in all its forms, and at its core, a destructive family secret. I loved every minute I spent with the wonderful Garnett Girls, their friends and extended family' Marika Cobbold
