Overview

The Forever Boy follows Finn Barber, a boy who stopped aging at fifteen in 1941. For decades, Finn has wandered across America, never growing older, and always on the run from mysterious threats: monstrous ""Shadow Splitters"" that prowl the shadows at night, and strange, sentient thunderclouds that pursue him during the day. Haunted by the loss of his family and plagued by a seemingly endless adolescence, Finn keeps to himself, drifting from place to place and never forming lasting connections. But when the Alvarez family catches Finn sleeping in the backroom of their small café, they offer him a job instead of kicking him out. And after all those years of loneliness, Finn has found siblings and parents, and a sense of belonging. Everything changes when Gwynne Arden tracks Finn down. Gwynne is also a perpetual fifteen-year-old who stopped aging in 1941. But unlike Finn, Gwynne has always known her purpose: she and Finn were both chosen by an ancient, extraterrestrial race to defend Earth from an impending cosmic invasion. Now, the two must work together to unlock supernatural powers they have been gifted, including flight, passing through solid objects, breathing underwater, and wielding destructive bands of light. But Finn is far from ready when they learn the invasion has already begun, and it's time to face the destiny he's been running from his whole life. The Forever Boy is a coming-of-age sci-fi adventure about found family, the pain and hope of never growing up, and finding the courage to face the unknown.
