OverviewThis is a radically new version of the Yi Jing, something that has not existed in this form for at least 1,000 years. The Forest of Changes Yi Jing contains two works linked together: The Zhou Yi, the core Judgment and Line texts of the Yi Jing in a 'new school' version that tries to stay as faithful as possible to the original Yi as it was used 3,000 years ago in Zhou Dynasty China. A set of verses for each text of the Yi that synchs up the Han Dynasty work Jiao Shi Yi Lin, the Forest of Changes. The Forest, which I translated in 2016, is a flawed work, showing signs of heavy damage over the centuries. It does not function well as an oracle in its present form because of the large number of negative omens. The verses are also not tied to their corresponding verse in the Yi Jing. So I have attempted a repair, assigning verses from the Forest to each text. The results so far are very encouraging, and I seek input from others using this new oracle to tune it further, creating a new and vibrant oracle to advise you. The books is designed to use a variant of the Nanjing method to produce only one verse per reading. The Forest verses for each text are divided into three realms: Merchant/Traveler/Earth, Farmer/Shaman/Humanity and Noble/Scholar/Heaven. These are three layers that seem fairly distinct in the original Forest text, a work of many hands. The division helps get a very specific reading on any question.
