Overview

Introducing the Flitlits to Young Readers At your place, or any space where flowers grow or rivers flow, spring up! Spot folk at plots that time forgot within a shaded shelter. A map at hand lays out the land. It is a hidden corner. Funny fables come your way that share the far folk's daring days. They may be tricky, good, or better. The folk flit and swish. They float when they wish. Follow them soon. THE FLITLITS About Introductory Book 2 / QUEENY SQUASH / Supported Reading / US English Version A hidden land named Seldom See has a queen and king. Queeny Squash rules the land along with Kingy Bling. They have a lively toddler titled Princess Peachy. The busy princess thumps loud drums. She also hoots a blaring horn and copies all things screechy. Queeny Squash wears bother boots. When she bolts, others scoot. She pounds the ground without a break until the palace rocks and shakes. Follow STORY 2 and gaze as Queeny stumbles round a maze. A sign spells out: COLLECT A PASS. She may swing left or spring right past. The Flitlits love their Muddle Maze. It sits beneath pink, tinkling haze. It has a keeper, Hoody Wink. Folk at the maze tend to think that he sneaks around and slinks as he plots out secret links.

They open up discussions on many topics and encourage exploration and off screen play."" ""On first encountering the Flitlit concept, I was overwhelmed. How do you begin to describe this incredible world? It is unlike anything I have experienced before. Each word on the page is placed to make the whole experience so expansive and rich in detail."" ""The setting is a magical place that can be visited any time, anywhere, and which stays within your imagination forever."" ""It is the lyricism of the prose that knocks you off your feet and lulls you in like a siren's song. The employment of rhythm and rhyme creates a magical syncopation that builds anticipation as the stories are read aloud."" ""The Guide for Educators is truly outstanding and will be an asset in helping children to grab on to that spark of imagination."" ""We are deeply embroiled in 'Flitlit Fever' in the classroom. In fact, it has taken over our lives somewhat! Author Information

"Eiry Rees Thomas grew up in Wales/U.K. among a creative family embracing a poet, calligrapher/sculptor, illustrators, and a cartoonist. The coal-mining community where she spent her formative years was mostly Welsh-speaking, with the English language being introduced to the school curriculum at the age seven level. The musicality of the Welsh language is apparent in the author's unique lyrical voice, described in Welsh as ""telynegol"" or harp-like, true to her Celtic roots. Her love of writing bilingually from an early age was given expression following a serious accident. This ended her career as a public health practitioner, peripatetic teacher, and medical translator. Her experiences in the field of child development and the privilege of having worked with children and families with additional needs contribute to her work as an author and curriculum content creator."
