OverviewBert Wheeler and Robert Woolsey were solo performers in vaudeville and on Broadway when Florenz Ziegfeld teamed them up for his stage musical Rio Rita. When that show was made into a film in 1929, Wheeler and Woolsey were cast in the movie and became such a hit, they did more films together and eventually became a popular movie comedy team. The Films of Wheeler and Woolsey is a film-by-film study of their work together, including the edginess and sexual innuendo during the pre-code era, and their preserving vintage Vaudeville comedy on screen for all time and generations.
