OverviewSir Walter Scott (1771 - 1832) was a popular Scottish historical novelist and poet. Scott was the first English language author to have international popularity during his lifetime. Fair Maid of Perth was inspired by the strange story of the Battle of the North Inch. It is set in Perth and other parts of Scotland around 1400.
