The Elusive Price of Justice

Overview

Although he left his position with the master of deceit, Dwight Lamar, well before the swindler vanishes, Matt Nelson is held accountable for serious construction deficiencies that have caused the deaths of residents on the projects he worked on. An ambitious DA needs a scapegoat, and no one has been brought to justice. Matt Nelson fits the bill. Stuck with land in Houston when Lamar disappeared, a New York patriarch, eager to rid himself of the Texas property, resells it to a bottom-feeder investor from Utah, who immediately defaults on the deal. Matt and brother John are hired to chase down the swindlers. Their wild pursuit takes them from singles bars in Brooklyn to the ski slopes of Vermont to the mountains of Utah. At home, things look grim for Matt, who has been indicted and is about to stand trial. Though innocent, rather than face an uncertain jury, he deliberates taking a deal with the DA. He cannot imagine subjecting his family to a high-profile trial. Can anything possibly save him at the eleventh hour?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Robert John DeLuca writes on a variety of topics, both fiction and non-fiction, drawing much of his material from his careers in banking and real estate, as well as his experiences raising four sons. He holds a BA and an MBA from Brown University and the University of Pittsburgh, respectively, and was a USMC Captain who served in Vietnam. He resides in Texas with his understanding wife and rambunctious Labrador, Floyd. The lifeblood of writing comes from readers engaging with our works. I am extremely grateful to all those who take a few moments to post a review of this book, no matter how brief. Thank you!
