Though their loose texture exposes them to destruction during all great movements Of the soil, there is no country where they ought not to be able to preserve themselves in some localities. In every region of the globe, a series Of deposits Of this nature should exist, more or less ancient, more or less continuous, parallel with that Of marine deposits. Their age reaches back to the first emerging of solid rock, and their composition entirely depends on its nature.
