Thus brought into view, we find a little mass, varying in length from iof an inch to 1} inches, wedged m between the occipital muscles internally, and the branchia and their thin lnuscnlar coverings externally, covered superficially by the tubes and mout-mfiscle, already mentioned, and dipping downwards so as to reach the nerve-branehes of the vague going to the gills.
