OverviewHomer's Odyssey remains prized as one of the greatest travel epics of all time. It is an account of Odysseus, king of Ithaca journeying home after the massive Trojan War. Whilst the text of the book is a result of an older oral poetic tradition dating to the 12th century BC, it has been considered predominantly a work of pure fiction. Based on recent astronomical analysis and increasing historical understating of the era, elements of this epic have become chronologically identifiable and Odysseus' journey home can now be traced in time. This book aims to offer a day-to-day chronology of The Odyssey in a diary format. It is the first of its kind to offer a holistic day-to-day view of daily events during the Odysseus' return to his home island of Ithaca. It utilises Homer's text as a core on which additional sources have been applied to ancient calculate dates with precision. This diary therefore presents a unique chronological perspective through which to better appraise the courageous return expedition of Odysseus within Homer's famed Odyssey.
