For years, she managed her diabetes using an insulin pump, ate dessert every day, and credited her excellent health to conscientious food preparation. She was a cooking enthusiast, regularly lecturing and teaching healthy cooking classes in her native New Jersey. In 2010, she passed away after a 22- year battle with breast cancer; she was also a proud 56-year survivor of insulin-dependent diabetes.
